What kind of choir is the Welcome Choir ?

We welcome and encourage all comers who would like to join in and enjoy the experience of singing and making music with a really positive group of people.


What sort of people sing with the Welcome Choir?

People just like you.  Some are a bit older and some are a bit younger, some sing higher and some sing lower but we all have one thing in common- we love to sing!


How big is the commitment I need to make to the choir?

You can come and go as you please – there’s no expectation that you attend each week but we’re sure you’ll want to. We rehearse together and perform a new song each week on Thursday. The only thing we ask is you learn lyrics we send you each week -



I’ve never sung in a choir and I’d love to join one but I’m not very confident. Would I have to audition?

No, we are a non-auditioning choir. Don't worry! Many people have the same fears and it shouldn't be a concern to you. We are looking for all members of the community who enjoy singing, have a willingness to learn and can be part of a close-knit team.

I’m not really sure if I’m a Soprano, Alto, Tenor or Bass?

Don’t worry our Musical Director will help you to find the best range for your voice.



Do I have to be able to read music?

Some of our members read music and some don’t. We provide a variety of techniques and teaching methods and learning supports which help our members to easily learn their music.


What kind of music does the Welcome Choir sing?

We sing everything pop ranging from Adele to the Beatles.  Everyone in the Choir can have input into our choice of repertoire and our Musical Director makes the final decisions.


Do I need to bring anything with me?

Only yourself and the lyrics attached in this email (we’ll have lots of lyrics printed on the evening)
